Born and bred in Friuli, curious of the World
Agostino Fornasier talks about himself

My company Termolegno: inspiration and stages of a unique business history.
My roots in a unique land
Rauscedo is in the heart of Friuli, in the lean lands between the vast pebbled sandbanks of the Cellina-Meduna and the vast riverbed of the Tagliamento. It is a unique territory of great environmental interest for its steppe-like scenery. The stony draining planes, dominated by the Prealps, hide invisible waters, underground, bound to rise again further downstream with a multitude of canals and rivers. The limestone soils are ideal for wine-growing: this is where the renowned wines of the area DOC Friuli Grave come from.
And here, for several decades already, an agricultural activity thrives for which Rauscedo is considered to be the capital: the production of grafted vine plants. Hence here is where the “roots of wine” are cultivated. In this field I found my first job. But my vocation and destiny would soon have taken me to follow a different path.

The calling of mechanics
Ever since I was young, inside me I felt an instinctive passion tingle for mechanics and metalworking, for carpentry and the creation of machinery: a talent of the Friuli people that emerged during the years of the economic boom with companies that have established themselves around the world from Danieli to Zanussi, just to name two of the most important ones.
Agriculture had taught me to be patient and attentive, to be disciplined while waiting, but within me I wanted to invent, construct, I was compellingly attracted by that dynamic world of productivity.
“Enlighted” on the path of wood
It took some years for me to meet my future and the decisive inspiration was given to me by a temporary commercial experience, one of those interludes that take you far away physically and culturally speaking. In fact, for a period of time I worked in the timber trade, travelling frequently in various parts of Europe. It was at a customer that, by chance, I came across the technology for timber drying kilns, sensing immediately that their production gave space to that creativity and to that technical challenge of which I constantly feel the need of in my daily work.
Since 1994, Termolegno: a company with a precise DNA
Like a challenge, at the beginning apparently impossible, Termolegno came to life in 1994. Yesterday is already today and today is already tomorrow.
We have come a long way from the first timber drying kilns and this path, enriched by encounters and made more challenging by always new technical problems to be solved, has contributed to forge our identity.
Above all, Termolegno is a company with a strong sense of origin that derives from our family background and this is passed on to our employees.
‘I work as if I were Termolegno’ this is what the workers of our external assembly teams often say. This spirit favors a strong organizational cohesion that simplifies and streamlines the ordinary procedures, leaving ample room to Research & Development.

I would summarize our strong points as follows:
To wrap up this short presentation I would like to point out the greatest strength of Termolegno: the passion for our work that I have tried to pass on to my daughters Irene and Ilaria, who are responsible respectively of Termolegno's Administration Department and Sales Department.
I like the word responsibility”, and I am proud that this is the true legacy of the family, the one that seems to be the most intangible one but at the same time stands for solidity, reliability and fruitfulness. All begins with responsibility. Responsibility is the root of the future.
- Creativity exceeding the standards, continuous research for innovative and tailor-made solutions;
- Quality without compromises, to begin from the raw materials and components used and to continue with the commitment and dedication to always work to perfection;
- Reliability, with the aim to supply our customers with well-functioning, efficient and resistant products, completed - when necessary - with an innovative customer care support service.
Passion and responsibility: the most precious legacy of a family business
